Fiesta Texas temporarily closes Iron Rattler

SAN ANTONIO -- A spokesperson for Six Flags Fiesta Texas has confirmed the park will temporarily close its signature roller coaster, the Iron Rattler, following a deadly accident involving a similar roller coaster at another Six Flags park.

A woman was killed when she fell out of the Texas Giant roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington on Friday.  She has been identified as 52-year-old Rosa Ayala-Goana.

Witnesses told authorities that Ayala-Goana had expressed concern that the safety bar had not completely engaged.

The Texas Giant is similar to the Iron Rattler.  Both are wooden roller coasters with steel rails.

A Six Flags Fiesta Texas spokesperson told News 4 WOAI it's not known how long the Iron Rattler will be closed, but added the safety of park-goers is top priority.
