Shortage of construction workers

SAN ANTONIO -- There's a shortage of construction workers nationwide. It seems San Antonio isn't immune to the problem, and it has many in the industry concerned.

The Associated General Contractors of America released a new survey Wednesday saying 80-percent of Texas and San Antonio construction firms are having trouble hiring qualified workers. So they visited the Earl Warren High School's "Construction Careers Academy" calling in one solution for the industry.

"This is one of the perfect examples of what we need to do more of," said Doug McMurry of the AGCA. "Not just here in San Antonio but in Texas and throughout the nation."

There are close to 500 students enrolled at the Construction Careers Academy. Once they graduate, they can either go out into the workforce or head on to college.
